No race tracking: equipment stuck in France

Tags: , , ,

Due to heightened security concerns by countries world-wide, in-bound shipments to the USA are increasingly taking longer to arrange. The equipment supplied by IRC required to post electronic tracking of the vehicles involved in the Parker 425 will not be available for this event as the equipment is currently held up in France on the return trip from the Dakar race. Because of Best in the Desert’s on-board scoring transponders, and the army of personnel on the course, race scoring will not be affected.
Steve Myers, President of IRC, was quoted, “Our equipment used in the Dakar event is currently stuck in customs and unfortunately will not be available for thisevent. If you already paid for the service, you will be refunded, or creditedfully for the next event.”
Casey Folks said, “The Parker 425 will go on as planned due to our experience and forward thinking. We always have a back-up plan to ensure the integrity of our events, and the safety of our racers. IRC has agreed to work with every racer at the next event with some type of compensation for the inconvenience.”
There are no announcements in that matter at TDCOM. TDCOM core activity is the design, development, integration and marketing of telecommunications solutions, voice communications, images and data and they should be the provider oft the service / equipment to IRC. Once should think that security delays for shipments for an event of this size being calculated in. Whatever…. just guessing here. At least no reason to @#$*& about the devices…. :-)
