Desert Racers and off-road race fans alike appreciated “Mr. X”, a unknown hero that used the occasion the “bitch-slap” Mike Overcast at the Mint 400. We at BajaRacing LIVE! congratulate Mr. X!! A modern day Robin Hood of Off-Road racing. Mr X assured last night after his guest appearance at a internet radio show he will remain the masked vigilante of the Off Road Community and wherever there are injustices in desert racing he will be there to bitch slap the evildoers! Our suggestion: get in touch with Jesse James, known as TT54, or Trophy Truck 54 and have a chat…….

Due to heightened security concerns by countries world-wide, in-bound shipments to the USA are increasingly taking longer to arrange. The equipment supplied by IRC required to post electronic tracking of the vehicles involved in the Parker 425 will not be available for this event as the equipment is currently held up in France on the return trip from the Dakar race. Because of Best in the Desert’s on-board scoring transponders, and the army of personnel on the course, race scoring will not be affected.
Steve Myers, President of IRC, was quoted, “Our equipment used in the Dakar event is currently stuck in customs and unfortunately will not be available for thisevent. If you already paid for the service, you will be refunded, or creditedfully for the next event.”
Casey Folks said, “The Parker 425 will go on as planned due to our experience and forward thinking. We always have a back-up plan to ensure the integrity of our events, and the safety of our racers. IRC has agreed to work with every racer at the next event with some type of compensation for the inconvenience.”
There are no announcements in that matter at TDCOM. TDCOM core activity is the design, development, integration and marketing of telecommunications solutions, voice communications, images and data and they should be the provider oft the service / equipment to IRC. Once should think that security delays for shipments for an event of this size being calculated in. Whatever…. just guessing here. At least no reason to @#$*& about the devices….

Blue Water Resort & Casino “PARKER 425”, February 4th thru 7th. Since 2003, the “PARKER 425” has been the opening round for Best In The Desert’s car and truck classes. This race has a great and storied history of large fields and as “The Legend Lives On”, the 2010 edition could very well turn out to be the biggest one of them all.
The festive event gets underway on Thursday, February 4th with the Time Trials for the combined field of open class buggies and Trick Trucks to see who will walk away with the “Team Ford Pole Award”. Best In The Desert is the only long distance desert racing organization that runs this kind of qualifying format for every race that pits the two fastest classes heads up to compete for the “overall” race victory.
New for this year, after the completion of the Time Trials, competitors will take their vehicles through a specially set up car wash as they get spiffed up for their parade down the streets of Parker to the center of town for a grand celebration kicking off the exciting weekend. With an open invitation to all of the citizens of Parker, along with racers and fans, this is sure to be a huge event. After the downtown festivities, the race vehicles will parade back to the Blue Water Casino for a party to announce the results of the Time Trials and the winner of the $1,000 “Team Ford Pole Award” presented by Steve Olliges, president of Team Ford Las Vegas.
Contingency gets underway Friday morning in the Blue Water Casino parking lot. Thousands of spectators and race fans will have the chance all day long to get up close to the race vehicles and drivers as they weave their way through the hundreds of contingency donors set up on display.

At daybreak Saturday, the real business of the weekend gets underway when the first race vehicle blasts off the line at the start held on the streets in the middle of Parker, Arizona. Every racer will be on equal ground, including returning champions, as their quest for the season class championships begins. Back this year will be the hugely popular “Parker Python”, a special two mile infield section of thrilling jumps and switch-backs in the middle of the main pits.

The 2010 Blue Water Resort & Casino “PARKER 425”…If you’re a racer, you don’t want to miss the challenge. If you’re a race fan, you don’t want to miss the adventure.

Hi race fans. It’s so far again for the baja racing fans to follow up at one of the biggest events this sport gives us. The Baja 1000! it’s here, it’s now! The events prior to the race are running. Contingency row in Ensenada is open and there are many options to watch. BajaRacing Live.com was “born” for the Baja 500 SCORE race but we decided not to use it for the Baja 1000 racing to publish the public available information. (read more below to new source for that). It would be boring to do so for the racing fans to see all the time the same website, wouldn’t it?? Despite the announcement to open the Baja Racing News website at www.baja-racing-news.com earlier during the year we changed our mind. This domain – baja-racing-news.com – is “dirty” since a amateur gratis Google Blog is using a similar name with highly questionable activities. Our investigations into that was like digging in a sewage pit! To bad but we will not give in on that and just choose a different option. To do at least somethings good with that web space and domain. We decided to make it the baja-racing-news watchdog website and hope we can help that innocent people fall into the traps put up to lure them in under the cover of off-road, racing and Baja races. All we will do there is point out any false information, outdated and re-used off-road info and point / suggest maybe the direction to look for alternatives.
As for the so called racecast or webcast of the Baja 1000 or better as the full name is: Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 2009 we created a website collecting all available open sources to provide information. In other words: we do not provide much of the data published except from 2-3 source we have at the race reporting live to us. All other data on display is freely available and we just collected all the source and publish it. This is including not to alter or hide logos and links to the originating websites. This give you as racefan the option to choose and select to stay with us or go where the info comes from. The www.score-baja-1000.com will open later tonight or briefly before the race starts tomorrow morning. You can select between different tracking maps as well you can participate with the Google Friend Connect and leave comments live. You can see this feature now already at the bottom of the screen. All you need is a Google ID (gmail) and you in. Google friend connect is like a mix between Twitter and a chat-box and almost instant.
We hope you all will enjoy the different feature. Pre race information is available at Puro Off-Road as long as it is important otherwise we don’t real want to dump more out to the net if it is already there.

SCORE International is known worldwide for its flagship event, the legendary SCORE Baja 1000. BFGoodrich has won more overall titles and more classes at the Baja 1000 than all other tire manufacturers combined. BFGoodrich also supports the series with course mapping assistance and pit support at pit locations along the Baja California racecourse. The season starts in Laughlin, NV, and ends with the granddaddy of all desert races, the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. BFGoodrich’s SCORE domination continues with
Sal Fish. You may not be familiar with his name, but you’re definitely familiar with his work. After all, he’s the legendary President/CEO of SCORE International, the organization that puts on the granddaddy of all desert races: the SCORE Baja 1000.
When you consider his background, education and personal racing experience, you’ll understand how he’s made such an impact on those around him, BFGoodrich Tires, and the motorsports industry as a whole.
Sal Fish was born on May 2, 1939 in Los Angeles, California. After a series of parochial schools, Fish earned an industrial relations degree at the University of San Francisco. Soon after, he attended Rochester carburetor school, General Motors transmission school and Bendix brake school… all the while managing the family business!
In 1966, Fish accepted a position selling advertising for Petersen Publishing Co., which led him up the ladder to the publisher’s office. It was during this pivotal moment in his career that Fish was offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive in a desert race in Baja California, Mexico.
“I didn’t know what to expect,” Fish said. “I thought there would be a white line down the middle of the course. We had massacred our vehicle to put in creature comforts; we stockpiled food, spare tires and tools to work on the car. It was more an odyssey that a race, as far as we were concerned.”
The end result? A broken transmission at the 16-hour mark and a tow to the finish line. But the racing bug had bitten and only four years later, Fish took charge of SCORE and made it his mission to make the organization – and sport – more visible.
Mission accomplished. Today, the SCORE Baja 1000 is the premiere desert race in the world with fans and participants from around the world. And BFGoodrich Tires has proudly been along for the ride from virtually day one.
“I don’t know how many organizations have a sponsor that has lasted with them for thirty years,” Fish said at the 2006 SEMA show. “But that speaks very highly in my mind of the BFGoodrich organization. They are not only great people but they brought something to my sport that needed to be done. (They have an) excellent product that not only works off-road but, as we know, on the street.”
As the official tire of SCORE for thirty years, BFGoodrich Tires and Fish have continuously worked together to help each other’s business succeed. And succeed they have.
Consider this: it was Fish who was instrumental in getting BFGoodrich Tires into the world of off-road. He thought it would be a good place to show the world how tough BFGoodrich tires really were. He was right. Only BFGoodrich has won the SCORE Baja 1000 20 consecutive times (1985 – 2005)!
Likewise, Fish has been known to say that BFGoodrich Tires has helped his business. That’s because teams who normally could not afford the expenses of racing in a SCORE Baja race will equip their vehicles with BFGoodrich tires to take advantage of BFGoodrich’s free pit services. For teams with small budgets, the BFGoodrich pits are an indispensable tool as they offer services like vehicle welding, tire changes, window cleaning, nourishment and good old-fashioned encouragement. Because of BFGoodrich’s pit services, every year there are more and more race entrants, which brings even greater visibility to the sport.
Here’s a little known piece of trivia. When it comes time for Fish to drive through the Baja desert to develop a new SCORE Baja course, map it and plot the GPS, what does he turn to? A BFGoodrich tires-clad truck, of course!
“BFGoodrich and SCORE have developed a symbiotic relationship over three powerful decades,” said Fish. “BFGoodrich tires have been the staple of SCORE racing and the No. 1 choice of the world’s best desert racers. BFGoodrich has helped SCORE build a lasting legacy in motorsports history, and especially in Baja California, Mexico.”
SCORE’s legacy – in Mexico, the United States and around the world – is just one of the many reasons why Sal Fish was awarded the BFGoodrich Tires Motorsports Person of the Year award in 2003, its inaugural year. Here’s looking to a future filled with a lot more motorsports, and a lot more Sal Fish!

The tracking devises, also called “Black Boxes” worked to Robby Gordons favor at the SCORE Primm 300 race in Nevada. Initially as runner up to Rob MacCachren in his new Mastercraft Jimco Rockstar trophy truck ride classified was the standing a different one after the complete data tracking review. Robby Gordon wins in his Monster Toyo Tires Chevrolet by 1 minute and 2 seconds. Rob MacCachren and 8 other trophy trucks out of the top 10 got penalized for speeding in a speed limited zone. Hey, rules are rules!
Great showing by Team AGM with third overall and victory in Class1.
Round 4 of the five-race 2009 SCORE Desert Series was as usual a race decided by the tight margins. The 14th Annual SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 featured 18 Pro and 2 Sportsman classes for cars and trucks from 14 U.S. States, Canada, Denmark, Germany and Mexico. There was a total of 109 starters and 67 finishers (61.5%)
Plain and simple Baja Racing News for baja racing fans that want to know what’s up in the sport, race fans that want off-road news that happens, no made up or contemplated. I think you all get the drift….. Anyway, this is just a little life-sign here, we are only hibernating – well, not really, actually work our butt’s off but not on the off-road websites – so we are not out of business or such. We aimed to get the www.baja-racing-news.com website open for the 2009 Baja 500 but we failed! It was just not possible to do within the time frame available and we are still not done – for that just a sneak preview….
