With entries already received from 31 US States and 13 countries, the drawing for class starting positions will be held Saturday for next month’s 44th running of the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race. This year’s internationally televised granddaddy of all desert races will be a loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, with race week festivities scheduled for Nov. 17-20. Saturday’s drawing will be held at the SCORE headquarters in Los Angeles. This years race will start and finish on Boulevard Costero adjacent to the picturesque Bahia de Todos Santos in front of the historical Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in the heart of Ensenada. Pre-running on the 672.85-mile loop course officially began this past Saturday. Pre-running is allowed from Ojos Negros and back, starting at race mile 43.3. One way pre-running from the start to Ojos Negros will be allowed only on Wednesday and Thursday of race week (Nov. 18 and 19). During the race, the first section of the course, approximately 40 miles, will be used both leaving the city and returning to Ensenada. While late entries are accepted up to race day, a total of 326 entries have officially been accepted for the race as of today which will put the starting field in the top 10 in the 42-year history of the storied event. Robby Gordon’s Response to SCORE’s Alleged Accusations - Charlotte, NC (June 12, 2009) – We are deeply disappointed with SCORE’s decision and reject their claims in the strongest possible terms. We plan an immediate appeal of this unjust decision. First, SCORE assessed a speeding penalty because it claimed that there was no IRC data between kilometer 77 and kilometer 78. The IRC device on our vehicle worked properly during all other sections of the race course, and Steve Myers from IRC has no explanation why no IRC data exists from that section alone. Our race team has footage of the entire race, and the video below proves that we were not speeding during the section in question (see the link below). Further, the No. 77 Trophy Truck has a speed control device connected to the engine management system that does not allow it to exceed 60 MPH. It's not all that bad - Robby Gordon always will be a winner with the Baja Racing fans - yet from winner to position 7 in the race standing is the "verdict" by SCORE. SCORE Intl. released the official results today for the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 this past weekend, and there's a huge shakeup for the Trophy Truck class, with Rick D. Johnson taking the win, while Nick Vanderwey moved into second overall. Robby Gordon and BJ Baldwin moved down to seventh and eighth place, respectively. The overall win for the race went to Class 1 Harley Letner, who finished with the best time. The changes to the official results come after review of the tracking devices used by each driver, and penalties for speeding or missing/cutting parts of the course are imposed. it will be quiet interesting to get the first response from Robby Gordon in that matter. There truly (for good or bad) is no one else in Offroad Racing quite like Robby Gordon. A look at his career suggests he was meant for the path of a lone wolf! Martin and I talked only a few times in the past - I was looking for the contact last year with AGM... I just get a kick of you guys. General Tire Burnouts at the Baja 500, BJ Baldwin and Jason Voss making some smoke! This is soooo sweet. I real like the sound of B.J.'s Chevrolet, (hey no offense Jason Voss, ok) There will be never a replacement for some serious Detroit V8 power and the sound that comes with it. I assume down the road Baja Racing, Offroad Racing, heck even most of the motorsport will change for many reasons, we are in that situation already with reduced starter fields, teams downsizing for $ reasons, large companies like Chevrolet and Chrysler going broke. Companies with a big history also in motorsport and desert racing, this is all very sad for a race fan to see but it's the reality. It will be hard for any car manufacture in the world to justify to the mainstream Joe Dow that millions are spend in the sport while 1000's of workers get laid off. It will be hard to justify to run engines that burn huge amounts of gasoline while somewhere else the ecologic / environmental point is taken a bigger impact on our daily life as in saving energy. Baja Racing News and Baja 500 disappointment - this is on a personal level + everybody else I think feels the same - and it has nothing to do with the sport. For me, as  a website admin,  today's Baja 500 was a huge disappointment. This disappointment is not based on the racing or the quantity of website visitors but based on what you can read here. I mean i am real huge disappointed!! We've been building this website and that needs time and effort, no matter how or what. You may not  like the looks, heck often we don't like the looks also. We are not web designers at 100% - talking about the looks and colors and so on- but we know our "shit" in the background pretty good. It is probably just a coincidence that this domain we have - and several others - have a similar name as a person known as Baja's Offroad Racing most hated person. We do not go out and buy domains looking first who else maybe has a similar looking one. We buy a domain based on what we want - anyway that does not really matter. The domains were available ...
